6/11/2003 - Our brief visit to picnic in the park on Sarah's 6th birthday after her doctor's visit. We were going to the zoo, but changed our plans. This is taken by the fountain. I We saw several neat things here but couldn't capture pictures of them. We saw two orange and one yellow Life-Flight helicopters land on the Memorial Hermann Hospital Roof. We saw the Space Shuttle Endeavor taking off for the International Space Station to work on the Hubble Telescope and it was a really neat birthday present to see that from the park. Sarah got to munch on her turkey sandwich and chips and have a cup of ice with her canned soda. We sat by the granite fountain in the park, under the shade of a beautiful magnolia in bloom and when the breeze blew, you could smell the sweet flowers. Sarah is in her stroller and enjoying the day. We also saw two red-breasted robins but could never get the shot of both together. One flew into the magnolia tree and they both played and ate seed on the grass to our right behind the fountain. Only one bird would come out at a time. It got really hot later and an Indian woman came out with a mp3 player with earphones, two people came out and sat right beside us with cellphones and made calls and there was a little boy that looked just like Christopher that came up asking how to get to the zoo but after I told them that a certain direction was closed, they went anyway. I realized that I my blackberry phone had either accidentally come on and the battery had run down after being on and inactive all day (strange because I ate blackberries for lunch). What a birthday for Sarah. I guess we were just too boring. I did have to call James and METROLift several times, so I don't feel bad at all about having my phone and phone tools on me because they are useful when I need them. I just left the crowd in the park to their own vices and started back, one of the people's phones lost the call. LLO'C
